Jennifer

Jennifer Daley is head pastry chef and owner of Romancing Desserts. She has been baking with her family and their secret recipes since she was a young girl, and is a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. Her desserts have been on the menus of the famous Café des Artistes and former Bambou restaurants in New York City, as well as The Tea Hive in New Jersey. Jennifer has also worked with the Young Chef’s Academy, and teaches certified baking art classes at Sussex County Technical High School. She is also certified in Food Handling and Protection by the Board of Health in New York City and Sussex County.

Arnie Kolodner Magic

Arnie Kolodner is an actor and magician who has performed professionally in New York since 1983 after earning his BFA in Drama from NYU. Arnie has played starring roles in many Off-Broadway shows most notably in Charles Busch's (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Taboo) comedies, while simultaneously building his own international touring children's theater company. In New York, Arnie has established himself as a unique birthday magician by presenting interactive performances that seamlessly weave amazing magic illusions into classic fairy tales.

Arnie's critically acclaimed productions of Cinderella & the Magic Prince and Snow White & the Magic Prince ran Off-Broadway at the Mcginn/Cazale Theater. Arnie's production of The Magic Land of Peter Pan opened to rave reviews at Theater 3 in Manhattan's theater district. Arnie's company has performed in many prominent New York theaters such as, Queens Theater in the Park, Tribeca PAC, Westhampton Beach PAC, the Bendhiem PAC, and Guild Hall. In Connecticut, Arnie has appeared at Joanne Woodward's Westport Country Playhouse. Arnie has toured to Las Vegas, St. Louis, New Orleans, Seattle, Boston, Detroit, Chicago and Tokyo. Terry B's Specialty Foods

After a successful career in marketing and advertising, Terry Burrus decided to refocus all of her time and energy on her true passion: the culinary arts. Her success in catering began with one innocent, little cake. After a sampling of her now infamous Brown Sugar Cake, a client requested a full menu, which led her to provide lunch buffets for many Conde` Naste  photo shoots, including: Vogue, Elle, Glamour and several studios.

Terry attended the New York Restaurant School, which was a wonderful experience, training in a city with the best restaurants in the world. This is what keeps her in close touch with the specifc needs and tastes of New Yorkers. After culinary school, Terry went on to work at March, Tatoo's, Park Avenue Cafe, and at Restaurant Associates. Chef Terry's private clientelle includes several corporate accounts, Linklaters Law Firm, as well as Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks, and Maurice Vaughn of the New York Mets.

She is currently the sole proprietor of Terry B's Specialty Foods Inc., which caters events, offers personal chef services, manages dining events at private locations,  and provides "Location Dining" services. Children's Museum of the Arts

The mission of the Children's Museum of the Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is to extend the benefits of the arts to all children and their communities and to secure the future of the arts by inspiring and championing the next generation of artists and art lovers. We work to fulfill our mission by providing authentic hands-on art experiences for children with artists, both in our art-filled interactive museum, in the community, and by collecting and exhibiting children’s art.

About Our Instructors:
Our Teaching Artists are highly trained in early childhood development

Tom Burnett (Wee Arts): Tom is CMA's Early Childhood Coordinator in charge of the Wee-Arts program. He has been a Teaching Artist since 1985 and has worked with: the Discovery Program, Dalton School, Columbia University School for the Gifted, Educational Alliance and was a Head Teacher for the 92nd Street Y Parenting Center. In addition, Tom has worked with several ‘Artist-in-Residence’ programs developing unique ongoing programs for high school age students. Some of those organizations include: Pentacle, The Kitchen, The American Educational Theatre and middle and lower schools at P.S. 110, 64, 137, 1, 2, to name but a few.

Melanie Sacks (Wee and Fine Arts):  Melanie teaches Wee-Plus classes, runs guided workshops, and will be teaching "Intro to Theatre" in the fall of 2008. In May 2008 she will graduate from NYU's Program in Educational Theater with a B.S. in Education and a New York State Teaching Certificate for Theater, grades K-12.  Melanie believes that the collaborative process of creating theatre allows children and adults alike to explore themselves as artists and people in a unique and profound manner. She is excited to help to bring more performing arts to CMA's already vast toolbox of artistic mediums.

Sophie Kamin (Fine Arts): Sophie joined the CMA Staff in 2002. Her own work focuses on drawing, printmaking and small-scale sculptures. Sophie exhibits artworks in NYC and San Francisco. Originally from San Francisco, California, she graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2004.

Kristen Ossmann (Fine Arts) is an artist and educator with a BFA from Hollins University. She has been with CMA since 2004. As a Teaching Artist, Kristen has been working with children for eleven years developing art projects that explore individual literature, history and science. As an artist Kristen is currently working with papermaking and bookmaking along with other art techniques.

Joe Vena (Media Lab Arts) Joe has been with CMA as a teacher of Cartooning and Comics, Animation and Sculpture since 2003. In addition, Joe also teaches a ‘Live Action Film’ class, and he has participated with CMA as an Outreach Teaching Artist with such programs as an ‘Aesop's Fables’ geared to first graders. In his spare time, Joe attempts to write for film and television. Joe graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a BFA in Acting..

Wardrobe Whisperer

Jessica Cadmus is the founder of Wardrobe Whisperer, a style consultancy based in New York City.  Since 2000, Jessica has offered wardrobe and concierge services to a diverse clientele – senior corporate executives, entertainment industry heads, photographers, small business owners, lawyers, and marketing executives among others.  Always passionate about fashion, Jessica has also helped others realize their full style-potential when she conducted corporate wardrobe seminars while affiliated with Brooks Brothers.  Her current services include image consulting, closet editing, packing for business and leisure travel, and personal shopping.   In addition to updating corporate, business casual, and leisure wardrobes, Jessica also provides assistance outfitting clients for weddings, cocktail functions, chic social events and black tie affairs.  Having worked in the investment banking industry Jessica understands the corporate culture and how dress influences success.  And as a fashion connoisseur, she also understands that a person's wardrobe is a creative outlet for self-expression.

Jerelle Kraus

Jerelle Kraus is the author and award-winning art director whose 30-year New York Times tenure includes a record 13 years at The Times's tumultuous Op-Ed page. A native Californian, she art directed the magazines Ramparts and Francis Ford Coppola’s City in San Francisco and Time magazine in Manhattan.

The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine have published Kraus's writing on art, travel, and the finer points of spoken English. Fluent in 4 languages, she attended Paris’s l’École des Beaux-Arts, Swarthmore College, and received her MA from UC Berkeley. She’s also taught college French and spent a year in Munich on a Fulbright scholarship.

Additional duties included hiring, sourcing all new projects, and directing the internal research team.  During his tenure at SHVO, Mark added global experience to compliment his domestic real estate proficiency. He established contacts in Europe, the Middle East, India, Panama, and Korea, creating relationships with banks, investment partners, and consultants around the world.

Mark previously worked for Monument Realty, the largest residential real estate developer in the Washington, DC metro area. Take Two Film Academy

Take Two Film Academy is dedicated to teaching kids and teens all aspects of filmmaking from the inception of their original story to the completion of a short film. Our students have the opportunity to learn acting in front of the camera as well as directing, screenwriting, editing, and camera operation. We offer varied courses that will give young people the technical and creative competencies needed to transform their dreams into actuality.

Megan Kiefer is a filmmaker, producer and director who has taught kids and teens drama and filmmaking for 10 years. Her production company, Oddly Honest Productions sold its first feature length film “Get on the Limo,” an official selection at the Bergen and Memphis International Film Festivals, to the Documentary Film Channel in 2007. Her short films include “Philadelphia” (2003) “Operation Kid’s Takeover” (2005) and “Jacked” (2006). Upon graduating from Tufts University she has worked on and off-Broadway (“The Thing About Men,” “Assassins,” “Wicked” “Embedded”) and won an OOBR award for assistant directing “The King of Mackie Street.” She is experienced in the business side of video entertainment through Oddly Honest Productions, Comedy Central Home Entertainment and is enrolled in an MBA program at Babson College.

Matthew Makar is an award-winning filmmaker from New York and founder of Elementary Films. Makar has recently finished Producing and Co-Directing “Nursery University”, which premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival and will air in April of 2009 on the Showtime Network. Makar also Co-Directed and Produced the Award winning film “Yellow Brick Road”, which has aired on HBO Family and Cinemax. Makar has taught sports and other activities to disabled children and adults for the last 10 years. He is currently working a TV Show “Imagine My Life” that chronicles the story of a man with cerebral palsy on his quest to record a rap song with his hero. Makar worked in production for Miramax Films, Greene Street Films, MTV and VH1 before deciding to direct his own films. Makar is a consultant for documentaries, including Living in Emergency (Doctors without Borders), which will premiere at this years Venice International Film Festival and NBC's Meeting David Wilson.

Language Workshop for Children

Established in 1973 by Francois Thibaut, The Language Workshop for Children continues to be the pioneering leader in children’s language acquisition play.  It offers classes, preschools, and camps in French, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese for Children (6 months to 9 years) in multiple locations throughout the New York metropolitan area and in seven states.  The LWFC has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, People, Parents, ABC, NBC, CBS, BBC, PBS, Nippon TV, Telemundo, Univision, and other major media.  CNN called Director Thibaut “one of a very few experts in teaching languages to small children.”

New York Jazz Academy

New York Jazz Academy, located on 86th and West End Avenue, in the heart of the Upper West Side, offers the highest quality jazz music instruction to New York City students of all ages.  New York Jazz Academy offers low-cost weekly big band rehearsals, sectionals, jam sessions, and jazz improvisation seminars.  NYJA also offers in-home private lessons.  In partnership with ReziClass, NYJA also offers jazz classes, lectures, and workshops in residential buildings.
